Mobile team augmentation: senior Android engineers who join your team, not a ticket queue
Next Era Solutions adds senior Android engineers to product teams that already exist. One engineer or a small group works in your Jira, your stand-ups and your release process. Our engineers work remotely across Europe, from the UK to Portugal, the Nordics and DACH, and a few work in Ukraine. Your contract is with our company in Estonia, in the EU. Rates are about $30–$90 an hour per engineer, depending on level and experience, with no minimum project size.

Is this you?
You need more capacity and skills, but not more headcount.
That was the brief on both Red Robin and Dutch Bros.
A release date is fixed
and a permanent hire won't land in time.
Your team lacks one specific skill.
For example: Android POS hardware (scales, receipt printers, scanners), Android Automotive, or loyalty and ordering flows at scale. Android Automotive runs on AOSP, the open-source Android that carmakers build on.
You want to add people for a push and scale back after it,
without renegotiating everything.
What you get
- Engineers who work inside your process. Your Jira, your Git, your CI (the pipeline that builds and tests each change), your code review. On the automotive program, our engineers worked in the program's own CI/CD pipelines, Jira and Git.
- Your code stays in your repository. Our engineers commit to your Git, so the code is in your repository as it is written. Who owns the rights is set in the contract (see Code and IP, under Working across borders).
- You set the priorities. We handle the contract and the staffing.
- Engineers in European time zones. Our engineers work in time zones from UK time to Ukrainian time: at most 2 hours from offices in the UK, Ireland, DACH and the Nordics (see Hours, below).
- A named contact on our side for staffing, weekly status and changes (see Who you'll work with).
- Room to change the team size. Add people for a push, then scale back.
- iOS as well, if you need it. Our team builds native iOS apps (Merezha Prava), and our iOS engineers can join your team the same way.
- Two weeks to decide. In the first two weeks you can stop, or ask for a different engineer, with no notice. You pay only for the hours worked.
Enterprise POS System
Our role: Android engineers inside the client's core product team.
A B2B retail platform needed Android engineers to extend its POS system for bakeries, grocers and other food retailers in the DACH region. The app ran on specialised Android POS devices. It had to work with digital scales, receipt printers and barcode scanners. Checkout also had to keep running on the store's local network without internet access, and the platform had to meet local market and regulatory expectations. Our engineers built and supported the layers that connect the app to those devices. They extended the cashier, register, checkout and device-management flows.

Dutch Bros, and other embedded engagements
Dutch Bros · US, one Android developer on Dutch Rewards
Our role: one of our Android developers, embedded in Dutch Bros' internal team and delivery process, working on Dutch Rewards loyalty features in the Android app.
Dutch Bros is a US drive-thru coffee chain. The client needed more Android expertise without growing its own headcount, so our developer worked on Dutch Rewards loyalty features in the Android app, inside the client's team, on the client's full US working day, for about a year.
Read the case →Red Robin · US restaurants
Our role: one developer embedded in the client's product team.
Mobile app work on ordering and the Red Robin Royalty dashboard, plus segmentation, personalized communications and member offers, on the client's full US working day, for about a year.
Read the case →Automotive Radio System · client under NDA
Our role: Android engineers brought in to strengthen the radio module of a carmaker's next-generation infotainment system.
6 months of AOSP work on AM/FM, HD Radio and embedded hardware, inside the program's own CI/CD, Jira and Git.

| Step | What happens | How long |
|---|---|---|
| 1. First call | The role, stack, hours, devices and start date. | 30 min |
| 2. We propose an engineer | We propose an engineer for the role you described. | 1–3 working days from your request |
| 3. Start | The engineer joins your team: accounts, access, a first ticket, then a first change for your team to review. | Usually within 1 working week |
| 4. Ongoing | Weekly status from our side; invoices monthly in arrears, on logged hours, in USD or EUR (GBP possible), on net 14 or net 30 terms. | For as long as you need |
| 5. Scale or stop | Add or remove engineers. In the first two weeks you can stop, or ask for a different engineer, with no notice. | Notice as set in your agreement |
- How long past engagements ran: 6 months on the automotive program, more than a year on the POS platform, and about a year each at Dutch Bros and Red Robin.
- What to have ready for day one: accounts for Git, Jira, CI and the chat tool your team uses; VPN or single sign-on, if your systems need it; a small, real first ticket, and the person who will review the code; and a stand-up time that works in both time zones.
- If your app talks to hardware: the devices, or a way to reach them. On the POS platform that meant scales, receipt printers, barcode scanners and POS terminals. On the automotive radio, it meant specialised embedded hardware.
- Who we are. We are a small agency, not a marketplace. Fewer than 20 people regularly work on client projects with us, contractors included. Our founder has 8+ years building mobile.
- What you can check yourself: the engineer's first changes in your own code review, and our weekly status.
- If the engineer isn't a fit: in the first two weeks you can stop, or ask for a different engineer, with no notice. You pay only for the hours worked.
Pricing
- Rates are per engineer: about $30–$90 an hour, depending on the engineer's level and experience (as of September 2026). No minimum project size. An engineer in your team is one of our three ways to work; the other two are time-and-material and fixed-price projects.
- What a month looks like: one engineer full time is about 160 hours, so roughly $4,800–$14,400 a month, depending on the engineer. Half time, 80 hours, is half that. These are hours × rate, not a package or a minimum.
- How we bill: hours at the engineer's rate. We invoice in USD or EUR, and GBP is possible; payment terms are net 14 or net 30, agreed per client. We invoice monthly in arrears, on the hours logged that month.
- What changes the cost: how many engineers, how many hours a week, and for how long.
- How this compares with a UK contractor or a permanent hire: our post on what mobile team augmentation costs per month.
- Need a whole app scoped instead of extra people? The app cost calculator gives a range in about 2 minutes.
What embedding meant, and working across borders
What embedding meant on these four engagements
Each row is a real engagement. Engineers from us: one Android developer at Dutch Bros and one developer at Red Robin, each for about a year, on the client's full US working day. Both were contracted through an intermediary.
| Where our engineers worked | What they worked on | Case |
|---|---|---|
| The client's core product team (DACH) | Android POS features, hardware integration, stabilization. 1+ year | Enterprise POS System |
| One Android developer in the client's internal team and delivery process, on the client's US working day | Dutch Rewards loyalty features, Android. About a year | Dutch Bros |
| One developer in the client's product team | Ordering, Royalty dashboard, member offers. About a year | Red Robin |
| The carmaker's infotainment program: Jira, Git, CI/CD | Android AOSP radio module. 6 months | Automotive Radio System |
Loyalty and ordering: two of our embedded engagements were on loyalty and ordering apps: Dutch Rewards features at Dutch Bros, and ordering and the Royalty dashboard at Red Robin. If you run a loyalty or ordering app, our engineers have worked inside that kind of product and its release pressure. Want to size the business case first? The ROI calculator has a loyalty add-on.
Working across borders: contract, IP and personal data
Contract: Next Era Solutions is the trading name of AppVanta OÜ (reg. 17188835, VAT EE102858846), registered in Estonia. Your contract is with an EU company. Our engineers work remotely across Europe, from the UK to Portugal, the Nordics and DACH, and a few work in Ukraine. Code and IP: our engineers commit to your repository, so the code is there from the first commit. The rights to that code pass to you as each invoice is paid. Personal data: if our engineers can reach personal data in your systems, how that data is handled and transferred is agreed in writing for each project. Ask us about it on the first call.
Hours: the time zones our engineers work in
Our engineers work in time zones from UK time to Ukrainian time. Which hours suit your team is a question for the first call. The UK, the EU countries and Ukraine all change their clocks on the same nights (29 March and 25 October in 2026), so these gaps hold all year. [TEAM SUPPLIES: re-check at publish: Ukraine's parliament passed a law to stop clock changes in July 2024; it has not taken effect]

FAQ
Augmentation fits when you already run the product and the team, and need more hands or one missing skill. You manage the work; our engineers join your process. A dedicated team is led by a lead engineer. If you'd rather hand over scope, design, build and release, that is a project: see our Android app development and MVP app development services.
